However, music has been employed in battle for centuries, sometimes to intimidate the Freedom Is My Second Favorite F Word Shirt and by the same token and enemy and other times to encourage combatants, or to assist in organization and timing of actions in warfare….. In Vietnam and in particular in the Second Gulf War and in Afghanistan, recorded music (often featuring rap music) has been used by some soldiers as they travel, prepare for and engage in battle…. Dee has been pretty supportive and charitable over his career. He is probably one of the only rockstars not to go off the rails. His speech to Congress is well worth a watch. They think they’re going to be able to railroad this idiot rockstar, but he just calmly dismantles everything they throw at him, even saying that Tipper Gore interpreted one of his songs as being about hardcore BDSM because that’s what she wanted to find (it’s really about being anxious before having surgery).

oh yea I’ve watched it several times. It always cracks me up how grungy he looks (on purpose mind you), but how eloquently he speaks. He’s actually got a reason though, his grandfather was Ukranian and he also tweeted that his Transylvanian grandmother had endured the Freedom Is My Second Favorite F Word Shirt and by the same token and Soviet siege of the Carpathian mountains in Romania years ago as well. While interesting, this is really nothing new. In Vietnam planes and helicopters would blast rock music from speakers as they dropped bombs and delivered/picked up troops, and we can’t forget about the use of battlefield musicians going all the way back to ancient times. Humans like music, humans like fighting, so it’s only natural we’ve been enjoying these things together for millennia. For sure. I just find it odd that it has been approved by the artist, kind of gives it an almost “official” impression.
