Find a reputable local shop that has a knowledgeable and trustworthy group that runs the Free Tory No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper Shirt also I will do this place… that will go into detail about what needs to be done, why it needs to be done, etc. Had a corporate place list out like 15 things my truck needed done and half the shit on their list was “nonsense” when I brought it to the guy my parents have used for 2 decades. Not all corporate places are shitty but some are. Like you might only need brake pads changed for example which is simple, fast and cheap… but they’ll say you need new rotors and a brake fluid flush on top of it for no fucking reason other than to get more money out of you…. And then they’ll say they did all that extra work when in fact they didn’t. Happened to my brother. He suspected they were bullshitting him so he put sharpie marks on his rotors before bringing it in. Lo and behold he got his car back with new pads and “new” rotors… with the sharpie marks still on them. Yeah. That’s what I’m little concerned about. My old mechanic was great. But I live a little too far away from him now. Had him check out my car before I moved though and he gave me the thumbs up. Other than an oil change here, I’m hoping that the next time I go home to visit my parents, I’ll be able to bring in my car to him for scheduled maintenance.

The old car I brought in to Mavis was my SO’s and that was bc I noticed it wasn’t driving nor braking quite right so thought it’d be better to get checked sooner than later. I’m not totally surprised it needed work tho bc she doesn’t maintain her car regularly and drives it kinda hard so I’d rather be safe than sorry.. Some areas are harder to pass cars in, because the Free Tory No Weapon Formed Against Me Shall Prosper Shirt also I will do this state is breathing down the necks of the people who do the inspections. In my county, since its one of the poorest counties in Pennsylvania, the state assumes most of the people who live here are driving unsafe beaters. So they will send the state police into the shops once or twice a month to check their books and see how many cars they fail per month. If they are passing “too many” cars, they will threaten to take away the shop’s license to inspect cars. So the shop owner will tell the techs to start failing more cars, and the techs don’t want to get in trouble or loose their jobs so they nit pick the cars coming in.
