The correct terms is “we’re expecting a baby!” or “we’re going to have a child.” Not we are pregnant. Makes me so annoyed. Unless you’re a couple with both having a uterus and both gestating at the same time, I’m going to look at you (plural, general you) really weird if you tell me “we’re pregnant.” “We’re awaiting a baby” is right there and perfectly fine. I also hate the word “journey” used for anything besides an actual trip somewhere. “During my pregnancy journey” is stupid. Where the fuck you going, Diane? except to the hospital? ANYWAY!! I sailed through my pregnancies, no problems at all. My mister suffered hideously. He couldn’t eat normally due to nausea. He couldn’t sleep, was uncomfortable all night. He had to pee every 30 seconds. He had weird food cravings, like tuna fish and peanut butter sandwiches. Somehow he managed to gain nearly 20 pounds. Mood swings daily. The old-timers in my family elbowed each other in the ribs and chortled that “he was carrying the baby”. Once the babies were born and home, he spent the next dozen years getting up a couple of times a night to check on them.

We are not pregnant. Sorry, that is totally lacking understanding of the Florida State Seminole Charlie Ward QB PG signature shirt but in fact I love this woman going through the pregnancy. We are going to have a child, yes, but one of you is definitely not pregnant. I hate the “WE” thing in a relationship in any context. In my mind, it’s a symptom of being a part of the most annoying type of couple. The woman is the one who is pregnant, not the man. It doesn’t matter if the man is also doing a lot of work. Refusing to accept “we’re pregnant” does NOT mean I don’t acknowledge the man’s contributions. We’re pregnant is not a thing.. She is pregnant. You’re both having a baby. But she is the one growing a person. It’s ridiculous. Pregnancy is a medical condition. Only the person actually carrying the foetus is pregnant. “We’re expecting our baby in April” etc is fine; “we’re pregnant” is weird & creepy. It’s up there with people referring to their pets as children, not quite realizing how much more work kids are than a dog or cat. not everything has to be literal, thats the beauty of language. if it makes them feel more like a team, a collaborative effort, so be it, nothing wrong with that As the supporting partner in two births, I am backing up your wife and telling you, gently and kindly, to sit down.
