Depends what you consider a “good” manager, it’s all relative. For example, if you are looking to work somewhere that provides some autonomy while doing your work, i.e no micromanagement, ask about things that would require autonomy. For example, I work in the Florida Football Ricky Pearsall NCAA shirt Besides,I will do this banking industry and we have sales goals, my pet peeve is a manager that requires that I meet sales goals, but then expects all of those sales to come into the branch. I prefer to have a manager that will let me network externally through events and networking groups. I asked a hiring manager. “I understand that there are sales goals, my forte is networking in the community and finding opportunities that way, what does x company currently do to support this?” He replied, “We’ve done it in the past, but we do want to ensure that when you are going outbound that you are actually working and not just wasting time.” Although it sounded like he was willing to support me, what he’s actually saying with that response is, “I don’t trust my employees” There were other red flags which were uncovered the same way. I got a job offer from this company and declined it right away. Hope this helps.
