Then I started going to school drunk. I carried a flask of vodka in high school and probably reeked of it in class. I thought I was cool, but I definitely should’ve just hung out with better people. I felt dependent on it and like it was a gift I could enjoy every day. But again, couldn’t handle it like normal people which I didn’t realize. Not drinking has been the Fire Country Bode Leone young convict who had a promising future until life knocked T-Shirt in addition I really love this best decision I’ve ever made. I was depressed when I drank. I’d SH and cry while drinking alone in my room as if it was a fun activity. I’d probably be dead if I stayed that way. Not drinking saves you so much money, and gives you excuses to get tasty drinks like soda or coffee instead. You get to ‘treat yourself’ or even reward yourself for not getting alcohol. You get to be on a bit of a high horse too. Being sober is like being vegan or doing CrossFit lol. Keeping track of sobriety gives you bragging rights and reaching your goals makes you happy. It’s a huge achievement. Don’t do it buddy. There are zero upsides to drinking. If you want to be more relaxed and know how to talk to people, you just need to practice. Spend money on Toastmasters if you’re nervous talking to people.

Answer: yes, it is a good idea to not start drinking. Being able to enjoy events and situations without alcohol is big, a lot of people NEED it to even enjoy themselves at a party for example. Biologically speaking, alcohol damages your body every time. The thing to think about is the social aspect. Low social life/isolation will kill you far quicker than light even moderate alcohol consumption. You say you’re “not really into parties”, why? How many have you been to? And how many different types of parties? Because parties and party like events are good fun whether you have a drink or not. They’re what you make of it, if you find 18 year old high school parties boring or unappealing, then make them fun, take the initiative to do something different at the parties. If you don’t want to party because of fear, that’s not a good enough reason, in which case you should (within reason) so that you can see what you actually like/dislike about them. Alcohol gives you cancer anyway. People just drink it to lower their inhibitions, but there are obviously healthier ways to build confidence than to pump toxic chemicals into your brain.
