Aside from having zero desire to have children, one thing that is rarely brought up is the Facts don’t care about your feelings T-Shirt in other words I will buy this world you’re bringing them into. Not only is our sociopolitical climate absolute dogshit, our environment is collapsing and no one cares to do anything to curb the effects we will all eventually feel. We’re not just talking about it getting really warm or having more hurricanes, we’re looking down the barrel of a catastrophic collapse of our agricultural system worldwide as the climate becomes more unstable and unpredictable. Farmers will struggle to keep crops alive as they suffer droughts and floods and freezes in single seasons. Our crop yields will no longer be able to feed the population. And this is so much closer than we want to believe, as in the next 15 years or so. Why would I bring a child into a world where I may not be able to reliably feed them? Why would I then force them to face the decision of whether they’ll have children when they almost certainly can’t feed them?

I don’t want to do the work, I don’t want to spend the money, I don’t want to deal with navigating parenting, I don’t want to clean up after anyone else, I don’t want to bring anyone else into a world that will quite possibly become uninhabitable during their lifetime.
