If you need the Everything will be OK Periodic Table Puns Retro T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this title to advance in another company, the title has more value to you long term than a pay raise. Absolutely not without the pay raise. This is wage theft, refuse the job without the pay and start looking for a new one. As so many other people are suggesting. Get it in writing. Because it’s a leadership role, they may legitimately want to see how you do in that role. But time is money so get it in writing that you want a review at about 3 months (ish) and they can decide and give the official promotion WITH pay increase. Or no deal, they’re just taking advantage at that point. Have a written contract with 4 main things. Have a predetermined pay that you will be paid when they are “comfortable”. A small increase in pay due to the added responsibility. Lastly a maximum time they can withhold the pay increase 2-3months if you’re generous. I’d do 1-2 max. Lastly due to you allowing them to withhold the pay you would normally be getting have a clause that says if you don’t like or can’t do the job you can get your old job back.

They then argued, “we already put in the paperwork.” I said that’s not my problem. “I appreciate the offer, but an increase in responsibility without a commensurate increase in salary isn’t something I’m interested in. “ “Can I get this all in writing?” I have heard to many people screwed. They give you a neat title and secretly searching for someone to take over in the background. Search for job listing by your company for the same position you just got. This is just to safeguard yourself. Please make sure you get your back.
