I’m an hourglass – waist 10 inches smaller than hips, BUT my hips aren’t my widest part. An inch or two lower is my widest part (about 2 inches wider than my hips). I have NEVER been able to wear slash pockets – the Elvis 70th anniversary 1953-2023 thank you for the memories signature shirt also I will do this inner fabric that hangs down inside the pants is hitting my widest part and is either too tight and bunches up, or it just makes me look even heavier there. Or the pockets flare open. Everyone here sings the praises of Aritza Everyday pants, but are they going to work for my body shape? I was trying to find something similar without the slash pockets but I’m 45 years old and only ever wear jeans and things cut like jeans. (and of course, by jeans, I mean skinnies or bootcut and my closet is in crisis.).

Very similar and have had great luck with Mother jeans as well as Abercrombie “curve love” styles. Fit amazingly great for smaller in the middle ladies. Dress pants, love H&M (gotta try on various styles) and Abercrombie dress pants. Also, your hip measurement should be the largest spot. But tbh, my hip measurement and the size I wear rarely match on size charts, It’s bizarre. I was going to suggest going up a size to accommodate your actual widest measurement (which sounds like it is low hip rather than true hip), but if you’re happy to forego the pocket, just have the pocket removed! But you could also try a size up in the dressing room, just to see how it looks. If the pocket is pulling open, there might be some other fit issues too that could be fixed by just going up a size. When I measure clients for custom garments, I am less worried about the exact measurement of their true hip than I am with the measurement of the widest part of the hip, which could be true, low, or high. For some people, the upper thigh is bigger than any part of their hips. This is all information that impacts fit & that I would take into consideration when developing a custom garment, & that a layperson can take into consideration when buying off-the-rack, especially if they’re willing to hire out some alterations. Too big is always easier to fix than too small!

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
