Personally, that’s about as far as my thoughts go, unless the Elmo Minnesota Twins Sesame Street shirt and by the same token and couple was doing something disruptive, it goes in and out of my mind quickly. However, a gay couple kissing in public kinda grosses me out. The same way that someone picking their nose in public would gross me out. Anyone who is “flamboyant” is trying to draw attention. If a gay couple is just taking life in stride like everyone else around them, then they go relatively unnoticed by me/us. However, I do have a friend or two who get highly offended by gay couples. I really don’t understand why. I honestly don’t care about other people’s sexual preferences and I don’t know why anyone else would. I usually notice it because it’s not so widely done here and then get nervous that they know that I noticed and I get weird because I don’t want them to think that I’m staring or that I’m homophobic or anything. I get nervous that someone else says something stupid about it and I get mentally prepared that I will shout at some bigoted asshole. I notice alot of gay couples at my job and my first reaction is huh I wonder if they’re actually a gay couple. Then it becomes obvious etc and that’s about it really. I think nothing about it. Unless there’s a lot of pda that would probably be better done at home or a hotel & that goes for straight couples too. Just icky. I don’t think anything of it. I’ve had a lot of gay men in my life. Right out of high school, I lived with a guy couple. And my uncle is gay, and he got married last month. I feel all couples, gay or straight or otherwise should behave modestly in public so if they’re just doing normal couple things, I wouldn’t really pay them extra attention.

I’m 61 and live in Cleveland Ohio. Unless you’re doing something that would attract attention or are dressed really oddly I probably wouldn’t even notice. If I saw you holding hands or giving each other a quick kiss I’d just go on about my business like I would if you were a traditional couple. You’re alright in In major cities like Philly, New York, San Francisco. Not so sure in rural areas where likely it’s still man and woman is the Elmo Minnesota Twins Sesame Street shirt and by the same token and standard in relationships. Be safe though. I don’t pay it much attention at all. I do notice if the partners in a relationship are generally happy or upset but that is every relationship. My thoughts would be about that I don’t really see gay couples often and wonder if they have to hide to avoid oppression. I recently met with a gay former colleague with both our partners and I noticed they started holding hands only when it was getting dark outside. That made me really sad. He told me that he receives homophobic reactions quite often.
