I saw this happen to one of the Elly De La Cruz Baseball shirt Furthermore, I will do this managers in marketing… she was offered a head of marketing, she took the opoortubity and after 6 months she got a massive raise … i mean massive like 3 times as much. As a new manager I had an employee I really liked. Great potential – every time I spoke to the director above me they agreed and said “this guy is perfect to lead a team, let’s do it”. I made an ass of myself and promised this guy a raise and promotion before I had written confirmation and then got the “there’s nothing we can do right now” from management for months. I strung this poor guy along with empty promises and eventually he burned out and left. This was a very hard lesson for me to learn and I still feel bad to this day.

The point of the Elly De La Cruz Baseball shirt Furthermore, I will do this story is most higher ups don’t care. They’re hoping it works out and they can drag you along for a while and maybe eventually give you a promotion, but if not it just buys them time to find a real replacement. Even if you get the promotion they promised, they will lowball you on the offer and say they can’t pay market value due to you having no experience blah blah. Not every company is the same, but unless you really trust these people I’d be very cautious about this opportunity and really push to have a timeline, raise, KPIs they want you to hit, etc in writing before you ever accept anything. I worked with somebody put in a similar situation, who was then expected to train their new boss in the job they had been doing for 6 months
