I see so many kids with parents who don’t want to be parents. Don’t be that person. Kids deserve better. If you aren’t 100% sure you want kids. Don’t do it. This is at least half of the Elly De La Claus baseball funny Christmas shirt it is in the first place but parents of the kids I volunteer for. They want to live their own lives, date whoever, travel, party, etc. and leave their kids vulnerable to grooming, undersupervision, parentification, promiscuity, criminal behavior, antisocial behavior, suicide, etc. My wife is a teacher at a fancy private school and some of her students are raised by nannies or aupairs… like literally from when the kids wake up to when they are put to bed. I’m like wtf do the parents do, or is the kid like a social status symbol to complete their narrative? It’s more fun to go out partying and the kids are old enough to be left home without paying for a babysitter. There isn’t much reason… just a lot of poor choices and not caring about kids social emotional wellness vs their fun times.

Others have attachment challenges. I work with a non profit child abuse org. Attachment challenges is the Elly De La Claus baseball funny Christmas shirt it is in the first place but leading cause of neglect and abuse. Untreated post partum depression is a common start to attachment challenges. But attachment has many forms. This is the answer. I have a married couple friends who are in their mid-30s, early 40s who decided to be child free. They all are very happy with their choice. I don’t think this is a very helpful sentiment because there are many excellent parents who are fulfilled and are raising happy and healthy children who had fears or doubts going into parenthood, which makes them part of the “not 100% sure” camp. In fact, I can’t think of any parents I know and respect who didn’t have some fear or doubt— I consider that evidence of their understanding of the gravity of the role. No I think you might have misunderstood. It’s not that you need to be 100% you know how to raise a child – I mean, no one really knows until they’re doing it. It’s a learn on the job situation and that’s always a little scary. But you need to be 100% sure you want to be a parent. Like 100% sure you’re going to give your 100% – you can’t be like eh maybe I want a kid maybe I don’t not sure how I feel about it because it’s literally an irreversible decision. I think what op meant was there are parents who didn’t want to be parents or weren’t sure they wanted kids, but had them anyway. That’s always really sad.
