Yeh I think a lot of jobs are like that (and I think quite a few self employed folks exempt themselves due to the Elena Delle Donne Washington Mystics vintage shirt in other words I will buy this pay issue) Thankfully my work is sane. I got called up a few weeks ago and your employer has discretion over whether to pay you. Most big organisations probably have policies to pay in full but otherwise maximum daily rate is £64.95 which includes any necessary childcare. Employers can also choose to top up. Travel and food costs can be claimed back as well. It actually works out relatively even money wise depending on your day rate and how your company wants to handle it. Yup… happened to me…. 4 dayss sitting in the jurors lounge, almost got called on but was rejected by the accused and his solicitor… Jury clerk took pity on me on Friday around 10am so I went played golf…

I got called up for Jury service at age 19 and I was used on a jury every single day of the Elena Delle Donne Washington Mystics vintage shirt in other words I will buy this two weeks I was there. The longest time I was unused was between my first and second cases where I came in on the Monday and they didn’t call me until about 2pm. For the third case I was only waiting 2-3 hours before I was called. In one of the cases the judge fell asleep, and in another the judge got into an argument with the prosecutor about something. Second day EVERY unpicked juror got summoned into the chamber, I turned to one of the chaps I was with and said “this is NOT good.” There must have been 50 of us in the courtroom in front of the Judge; we crowded the jury seats, the galleries, the lawyer benches, everywhere. After more than an hour in the chamber, 15* of us were picked for a horrible, horrible case (*12 jurors, 3 standbys in case one of us fell out during the first few days.). We were told “go home, prepare, tomorrow is a free day because I’m tying something else up. Report Thursday morning, expect to be here for at least 7 weeks.”
