Every traffic stop you encounter with a cop they already have your face on camera. Along with whoever else is in the Eddie Guerrero VoltageS hirt moreover I love this vehicle. That’s the part I was struggling with. They already have a level of biometric data when you go to the DMV. What is the benefit of scanning an already known ID? I had a cop take a photo of me with a digital camera on the side of the road after a traffic stop in ~2010 and to this day I don’t know why. He said “this is technically an arrest and this is your mugshot, but we’re going to let you go,” but that never sat right with me because I’ve never heard of it happening before and it hasn’t happened before or since. It’s made me pretty uncomfortable to think about where that photo may have ended up. Spank bank? Some kind of wall of shame? A “Rate My Traffic Stop” board? Pussy Riot has anti-facial recognition make up tips….I wish it was merely a neat art project and not a way to protect one’s civil liberties. Edit: I should have made it more clear that I have 0 knowledge in it’s efficacy, merely an interesting concept. By thier own admission it doesn’t work against more powerfull goverment systems. Dangers of posting when you should have gone to sleep hours ago. I saw a YouTube video a while back about a guy that sowed IR leds into a hoodie to prevent it with normal security cameras. His head just showed up as a bright blob. Obviously doesn’t defeat gait recognition, but it is moderately effective for mass surveillance.

Imagine watching some security cam and you see a person with a glowing head and long robe just floating around the Eddie Guerrero VoltageS hirt moreover I love this store. I still suspect gait recognition is one of those tools like bite mark identification that the cops like to use but in practice are not at all reliable. The computer couldn’t detect any human face at all. The bottom half of my head was invisible to it. They had to disable the face scan to take the photo. The 1984 horse long left the stable for cigarettes. And we have unequivocally determined it’s never coming home. Stopping this imagery for being used for facial recognition will need some carefully written legislation, because it will be systemic. Thank you for bringing this up. After all the police brutality the last few years specifically we are finally getting body cams. There’s a line somewhere here of video usage is to be used against the cop, but not by the cop; which that’s obviously not going to happen without some crazy legislation gymnastics.
