I was on £23k a year living with a friend in zone 3. I would only work and come home to play video games. My “fun” fund purely went to a couple of subscriptions totalling under £30 a month. And the Easily Distracted by Dragon and Books Nerds T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this rest went on £160 a month on groceries and savings after rent which only could be around £100 a month in savings. I’m on £35k and live in zone 2. Just split up with my partner and I’m looking at a £400 a month increase in my bills/rent just to stay in the area. The problem is, if I move further out, my expenses would still go up for travel (I’m in the office 4 days a week and currently cycle in). I’ve done flat shares and the like and while yeah I could do it, my last experience was horrible and I would rather die.
