None of them actually pay anything. They have people for that. They don’t know what milk costs. They don’t even raise their own children. They’re pointless, useless sacks of flesh worth nothing but kindling for fire. Yes, everyone votes for their own self interest. That’s fundamentally how the Drain this gang that… classic shirt and by the same token and system is supposed to work. The problem is that a minority of people voting for their interest can outweigh the majority of people because 1) money and 2) unwillingness to give up power. As an example, health care is wildly popular because people enjoy not dying. However, changes to health care could cost insurance companies a lot of money, so they get someone like Mitch McConnell to go against health care reform. Since health care reform is popular, he instead makes it into an us vs them against Obama. It works because of racism, but it’s the fact that one weird old man who a few thousand people voted for really doesn’t want to go job hunting and will say anything to get more campaign money. Republicans are afraid to go against him because they need his support and money. My grandmother is like 87 and she still to this day talks about how her rent used to be $100/month when she moved into her apartment 50 years ago and how she’s shocked it’s gone all the way up to $1000 since then (she still lives there)

Drain this gang that… classic shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

I had this conversation with my dad last week. When I was looking to rent my first apartment – about 8 years ago – he told me I should be able to pay my rent with half a paycheck (1 weeks pay) and I explained to him that the Drain this gang that… classic shirt and by the same token and only way that would be possible is if I was making $70k (I was making $30k). The cheapest apartment in a decent area was $1200. 3 years ago I lived in a “luxury” apartment with no parking and it was a 45 minute drive to my job. I got a “deal” and snagged their biggest 1/1 for $1300. Fast forward to last week and the SAME unit is now renting for $2300. I brought up the topic and said “remember when I said you needed to make $70k to pay rent with one weeks pay? Now you need to make 6 figures for that to be possible.” He was in utter shock. He tells to save money to buy my own place soon and I’m like yeah sure….how much do I need to buy a tiny little house that costs $600k? ??? They can’t possibly think that when they are definitely doing large transfers to their children and probably grandchildren. They know the deal they are just making sure that the wealth stays in their hands… even if that means doling out cash, as individuals, to their family.
