“What’s up with parents forcing their kids to finish their food? Like as a child, you get served an adult portion and are expected to fit it all in your child sized stomach? And your parents say oh there’s starving children in Africa! Well if a starving child in Africa got this far through a plate of food they would say “oh. No. I am full.” I was told by a child expert, and my pediatrician children serving should be no bigger than their fist/total meal 3 fist fulls. It’s crazy to force a child to eat adult size portions. Although we never were made to sit until late at night, I was raised in a household that made eating everything on the Dopapod Madison Theater Covington, KY March 17, 2024 Event Poster Shirt it is in the first place but plate a must, even if we didn’t want it. To this day I still have issues with food and if even a sliver of food is left over I constantly hear about how food costs so much and we’re just letting it go to waste by not eating it. I definitely have “forced” them to eat food though, because sometimes they would just be at the Dopapod Madison Theater Covington, KY March 17, 2024 Event Poster Shirt it is in the first place but table goofing around and basically not eat and then say they are done, only to say they are hungry 30 mins after cleaning up. What you expect them to eat is definitely dependent on how the day has gone beforehand and what they have had for snacks ect. My oldest will tell me he is full and not ask for snacks and be fine until breakfast. I never say anything to him about finishing his food. My youngest will not eat, demand snacks (we don’t let him), and wake up starving in the middle of the night. We constantly remind him to finish his dinner. There is a great difference in his behavior and sleeping if he eats his whole dinner
