The more boys are encouraged to speak up about their own childhood experience, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing more and more women accused of rape over time. Even when I was a kid, this idea of sleeping with an older woman as a kid was supposed to be “cool” as if you were lucky or something. That’s how pop culture framed it. Boys couldn’t get raped. Boys must always want sex. I’m glad things are changing finally because it isn’t cool. It’s rape and it’s traumatizing. Honestly shocked how these relationships develop. Does the teacher or student push for sex? I’m just dumbfounded. I once remember being in a classroom in MCPS with a teacher who would later be caught for inappropriate sexual behavior asking if anyone in the class had ever been a “victim” of statutory rape. It was one of the many questions he asked the class to go around and answer as part of his “Who Did You Last Hook Up With?” game that he felt the class had earned as a break from not pushing themselves at all. Edit: This was almost 20 years ago by the way. Right on the heels of another teacher being caught banging a student at the same school.
