The academy still has a musical category but not one for stunts. Shows just how behind the Don’t Make Me Use My Social Worker Voice Vintage T-Shirt it is in the first place but times they really are The public would absolutely adore a stunt double & team walking up on stage and accepting awards, or at least I would. Dude the Oscar’s are a joke, don’t try to seek professional validation through them – people love the JW movies, take some satisfaction out of that. The only reason I don’t really care about this is because It feels like giving a bone to a clear frontrunner every year. Even these CGI mess marvel movies have stunts all throughout, with performers I love in them, but I wouldn’t give them awards for that. Wouldn’t a movie like Extraction not even be eligible since it just drops on netflix? How many mainstream movies do we see each year would reasonably be in the running for this award? Like of course the John Wick director, who any time he drops one of these would probably be nominated, would have interest in that. Not saying it’s a bad idea because the academy is not the end all be all of representation, so it still has merit. I think it just realistically boils down to a clear frontrunner every year and just becomes a watered down award.

End of the Don’t Make Me Use My Social Worker Voice Vintage T-Shirt it is in the first place but day though the award is not for me and it’s clear the stunt community cares about it enough to want to see it happen (cuz lets be honest how else would they win one). So overall I support it but it’s just another award I’ll just read about later vs watching the show to see. I’d say a better challenge is to have them actually watch the animated films that get nominated and make an animation oscar worth a damn. Whole heartedly agree. Some of my favorite patients are stunt people, and the stories they have are incredible. Nobody has died getting the best new original song Oscar, so it’s a travesty that stunts don’t get awards. Plus it would be really cool and rewarding for the stuntmen and the choreographers to have a highlight reel of their stunt being performed during the nominee listing segment
