So your average would be far lower than 5%, but all it takes is 5% at the source of ignition… In my experience, kitchens aren’t usually cut off entirely from the rest of the house, though. They are usually open to a common room, or at least a hallway. I don’t mean to imply that there is no danger of an explosion; all gas leaks are potentially hazardous.
