I have three kids. We do t have set meal times unless our schedule requires it. They eat breakfast and lunch when they’re hungry. Not because it’s 8 am or 12 pm. We eat when we’re hungry. That might mean that my Dallas Dak Prescott Here We Go Shirt and by the same token and kids eat lunch at three different times. Dinner follows a bit more of a schedule usually but not always. Kids know when they’re hungry. They know when they’re not. It’s not for me to say. You eat until you decide you’re full. They also know what tastes and textures they like and what they don’t. Not for me to say. I try to offer balanced choices that suit everyone. I won’t make more than one dinner but if not everyone is satisfied or interested, you’re allowed to choose an alternate that you can make for yourself or that is easy like a bowl of yogurt with fruit and granola, leftovers etc.

Is it a bit more work for us this way? Yep. But I dont think it’s for me to tell other humans what they like and don’t like. Unless your kids have legit nutritional/growth issues then I see no point in trying to control food. You’re arguing then up for food issues later on, IMO This happened to me. Ever since I was a kid I always had an aversion to meat, the Dallas Dak Prescott Here We Go Shirt and by the same token and texture and the thought of it just made it almost impossible for me to eat. My parents wouldn’t let me leave the table for hours and of course it was even worse cold. I’ve still never understood why they were so appalled by me becoming a vegetarian. My kids will complain they are hungry and want a snack. I serve them a healthy meal. Suddenly, no longer hungry. That’s cool, next time you are hungry, you get to eat the food from this plate, but I assure you, right now is the best it’s ever going to taste. Kids aren’t great at making decisions, so you’ve got to make some of them for them until they figure it out. I’m not making them eat a ridiculous portion, just the equal portion as whatever it was they want to eat. My stepmother used to do exactly what you described. It was terrible being forced to sit at the table for hours because I didn’t finish her nasty cooking. A few times my dad would just throw it out the back door and say I finished it. I didn’t understand it then and as an adult I still don’t understand why she did that. Thankfully I only visited my dad every other weekend and my mother never expected us to eat when we weren’t hungry.
