May I add that that there was low morale, brought on by the Dakota wesleyan university class of 2027 symbol shirt and I will buy this people back home who associated people in uniform with the unpopular Vietnam war. The Gulf war was unfortunate but thank God it bought pride back, and back to all of us who served in the military. Thanking God for your pride in killing Iraqis because of oil, lol. So backward. Maybe ask for forgiveness for all the people you killed instead. Is there a specific movie that you feel captures the war better than the others, or one that stands out to you? My uncle said it was “Hamburger Hill”, but I don’t know if that’s a widely held opinion. My neighbor has a daughter who was a keeper to the dogs who sniffed out ied’s in Afghanistan and her dog smelled out some explosives saving lives but it was blown up. Her handler had photos of her loved dog but a hard drive was screwed up. I spent a week extracting the photos of her dog from the damaged drive. It was an honor to do it for her and that hero dog. I think these photos -need- to be far more prevalent. Showing those Uvalde kids laying in a pile of their own guts may just change some minds, too. War is too sanitized now. No one really sees photos like this, or heads spraying brains, or monks going up in flames. Everything is packaged, and distant, so no one gets offended.

Believe as you do,those are hardCorps NVA .And yes,I can smell those rotten bodies 54 years later,as if it was yesterday. As a GI in 69 the Dakota wesleyan university class of 2027 symbol shirt and I will buy this first thing that hit me on the ride from the airport was the smell, heat and humidity. I had a heat rash for the first seven months I was there.War stinks in every way….when will we ever learn? We need peace, now, for the sake of our future generations! The fundamental difference between those that talk of combat and those that were in combat, the smell, the fly’s, the dirt, the long hair and beards, the sweat and oil saturated clothing, the humidity, the rain, the long periods of inaction punctuated by sheer overload of action, mayhem and chaos. You can not know unless you have experienced it, no representation in film or writing can ever convey the reality. The reason why people that have been in combat rarely speak of it and only with fellow survivors if at all. the VC souls thought that this irrelevant, next life they will fight the Chinese, a God given mision . The Vietnam War just a distraction
