I pleaded guilty, got one year inside, then I was allowed out on an 18-month community corrections order. This is an extremely light sentence for stealing 1.6 million dollars. Like, I understand it was complicated, the bank wasn’t really cooperating, and he turned himself in and was willing to plead but JFC, he stole 1.6 million dollars! Ok but are there like legal consequences to that? I’m mean fuck it right if there isn’t, I’ll spend their money. Lol In the article, the guy decides not to abscond to Spain and turns himself in. If I was a bartender who wasn’t married and didn’t have kids, like him, I’m not sure I would have made that decision. I probably would take $400k and move to a country without extradition to Australia. I arbitrarily chose $400k because I just assume that, if you take too much, they will make it a priority to hunt you down. Anything below $500k seems safer.

The drunk guy suddenly realized he could just pocket the money and walked away. In the 90’s I was at a festival downtown and I used a temporary ATM. I withdrew $15, which should have been 3 5’s. Instead I got 3 20’s. I did it one more time and then, not wanting to be greedy, went along with my day, albeit in a much better mood.
