“No thanks, but can you get me a water?” Or fruit juice, or soda, or pretty much anything you’d like. Most people are just offering to be polite. As a bonus, once you have one of those drinks in your hand, most people will see that you have a drink and you don’t need another one. I feel like programs like DARE and anti drinking and drug campaigns gave everyone this weird expectation that people will be forcing drugs and alcohol on them. And if they aren’t, and actually try to convince you despite you clearly declining then who gives a fuck what those people think of you. Still say no, and walk away if they keep pestering. “Nah, I’m good”. You don’t have to drink and you should never feel pressured to. If someone doesn’t take your first no, might be time to rethink that friendship. My favorite is when everyone knows you don’t drink, but they try to get you to anyway. I experience this with family. Yeah, like your persistence is going to change my mind…. I hate it. It’s like I’ve said my reason for not drinking to them all before. I don’t need to repeat myself every single time they want to partake. Asking, are you sure? Isn’t going to change my mind. Alcoholism runs deep in my family and an uncle that questions my decision all the Colorado Buffaloes Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt moreover I will buy this time proved it one Christmas when he decided my 14 year old brother’s shit talking had “gone too far,” (he personally takes things way further on a regular basis) and he decided to wrap his hands around my brother’s neck and started squeezing. That went over super well….

I’ve lost all of my high school and college friends because they all decided drinking is a must and is more important than other things. It sucks that I don’t have friends, but I don’t like being subjected to alcohol all the Colorado Buffaloes Football 2023 It’s In My DNA shirt moreover I will buy this time. It’s ruined too many lives, especially in my family. I don’t need it to ruin mine. If people need alcohol to have fun, that’s a sign of a problem. Just say you’re pregnant. If you’re a guy just say you’re pregnant anyway, and if they question it just remind them that it is the current year and act shocked they could be so bigoted. I learned this in D.A.R.E. – I swiftly tossed that knowledge aside the first time I was offered alcohol and I gladly partook for 15 years. Now my daughter has won the first prize for her D.A.R.E. essay and I no longer drink more than one or two drinks a year. “I am driving”, “I got work tomorrow”, “I’m allergic”, “I don’t drink” and (while having just a little bit of coke poured in a glass) “I already got one”.
