Going to the city center in any other city is exciting and fun but going to the city center in Birmingham is just depressing. Where did you go exactly? There’s plenty of areas to do things, like go to the cinema, go drinking, arcades, activities like bowling alleys and mini golf, a wide range of restaurants of many countries, areas dedicated to nightlife, semi decent music scene and more to suit most people’s ideas for a quick day or night out with friends/family of all ages. Some parts, near CEX (Bull Street) are very lacking, and boring, and I avoid them, but still, I have no idea where you’re getting the idea “there’s not much to do”. I often visit Birmingham with mates and have a good time there and never struggle to find anything to do. There’s also some really interesting, and mostly free, museums in Birmingham, there’s museums for pretty much anything you could be interested in. There’s a science museum, the museum of the jewelry quarter, art, UK history, vehicles, sealife … There’s even a bunch of more unique and specialised museums like the coffin works, a pen museum. Also a lot of things to do are hosted in some really interesting old buildings, like you can do mini golf or go to the cinema in the old custard factory.

Even just walking around the Cocoa Tea Make A Nice Dance Shirt But I will love this different areas is interesting such as china town, the gay village, balti triangle. Its multiculturalism is a huge part of what makes Birmingham so great and it’s so celebrated throughout the city! Hi. Not a Brummie, but lived there for a decade. I’ve lived in Germany too, as well as a capital cities lager and smaller than Birmingham. You are doing Birmingham wrong, it’s brilliant. The city centre is big enough to have everything you need but small enough that you can cover it in your lunch hour. Then there are places like Digbeth, jewellery quarter etc that have a fun vibe, and harborne too. There are quieter bars and restaurants along the canals…. there is loads to like. You might not like the architecture, but then the jarring juxtaposition of modern buildings with the remnants of the city’s industrial past are part of its charm really. I mean – if you’ve been to five ways and back then yeah I can see your point, but if you can’t find something to enjoy in Birmingham then I’d suggest the problem is you, rather than it.
