you weren’t bringing in $30 an hour profit. You were likely grossly under-insured for what you were doing, and you are likely leaving out complex factors like repairs and depreciation on your vehicle, etc. Doordash took off because the Clueless Paul Rudd Band 688 Atlanta shirt and by the same token and company undercharged the end user, had a year or two of insanely lenient customer service, and a workforce that wasn’t quite wise to how they were being grifted. Your case in point. Service has gotten bad because people with the means to do so have stopped dashing because it’s very hard to actually make decent money, when properly factoring your overhead. You made $30 an hr profit from such an easy job… that makes me question all these people who demand such high tips because they’re “not paid enough”. Ive worked 6 years at a shit job just to get up to $20 and hr and my job is not easy by any means.

For me demands were always a thing. The money just isn’t there anymore. During COVID a 3-4 hour dashing gave me $100. That same time I’m lucky if I make above $50 When they started sending me “high pay” orders for 4 dollars I stopped giving a shit because they obviously don’t give a shit about us One of my closest friends is a Door Dash driver and I worry for her every day she does it. The stories she has told doesn’t help either This is simple. The apps stopped paying what they paid during the Clueless Paul Rudd Band 688 Atlanta shirt and by the same token and pandemic, and a lot of the better drivers have gone back to W2 work because of it. Now, a higher percentage of drivers are people who are unemployable in the W2 world, and do gig work because it’s their only way to make money.
