Yeah. I lost my job in january. I was “fortunate” enough to be going to college at the Chillin With Big Red Wild Card Weekend Shirt But I will love this tail end of the 08-09 crash in the US, so I always had a pretty major fear of another recession hitting and not being employed for up to a couple years over it. I saved up probably about 2 years of expenses, mostly in a high yield savings account, a bit over 5 percent APY. Everyone told me that was ridiculous, it could never happen again anytime soon, etc. Everyone said that at most I should have 6 months of expenses saved up, and if I wanted to save more, it should be invested. Nobody saw an issue with how much less my money would be worth if everything crashed, and how much it’d suck to have to pull money out when it had already lost a ton of value.

Well, guess who lost their job right at the Chillin With Big Red Wild Card Weekend Shirt But I will love this beginning of January and is still unemployed just like everyone else in their field with no prospect of that changing anytime soon, over 10 months later? Guess who’d be homeless right now if I had only planned for half a year of expenses? Yep, me. I apply for 15-20 jobs a day most weekdays. I try to apply for jobs posted within 24-48 hours before I find them. I’ve interviewed at dozens of companies, made it to the final stage probably 20 times, being told I’m competing with multiple other people for the offer at that stage. I’m HIGHLY qualified. I have, for my entire career, always been given the highest ratings by my teammates and managers. Its only ever taken me a month or two at most to have 2-3 offers in my lap to choose from.
