The double descriptor’s problematic I think. You mean the Chavez Jr Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Mexico Shirt it is in the first place but Black dude? would have sounded better. Was there a small Black guy in the room? Not racist as long as he was big and black. Specifically big. White people have a tendency to call black men “big” even if they’re not big. So that would be problematic. Other than that, I’d say you’re ok and you don’t need to worry about it anymore. Its not bad. People have to get over themselves. Having said that. If there’s another way to describe someone its probably nicer to use that description. In your case the guys prominent features are prob that he is big and he is black. Nothing wrong with that. If he was a skinny white guy id prob use those descriptive words as well lol. Not exactly and personally I find it more offensive when someone people refuse to say “black” …at the same time I’m very certain that people would have known exactly who you were describing if you’d just said “big guy”. At the same time you should be mindful that other people may find it offensive and they’re not necessarily wrong either. Some people just aren’t comfortable with certain things and you should be respectful of that, maybe you weren’t being racist but it could be seen as tactless. Maybe the person didn’t even think you were being racist but that you were being uncouth. Also some people are very validity hypersensitive about certain things, it’s good to be mindful of the words that come out of your mouth.

It depends on your surrounding people. When I’m around mostly white people, they prefer you describe poc in anyway possible outside of skin color. When I’m with a group black people, I’ve noticed they prefer it. For example we were talking about a guy and I used the Chavez Jr Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Mexico Shirt it is in the first place but description along the lines of “you know, the light skinned skinny black kid with dreads” and then they knew exactly who I meant. No one was offended. as a yt person who lives in the blackest city in the us of a, i had reservations on how to communicate since it’s so racially charged here, especially coming from living in la and people are just people. turns out, “white guy?” or “black guy?” helps narrow down a lot of conversation and used multiple times pretty much every day. it’s usually idpol white libs that stand mouth agape & subscribe to “color blindness,” which turns out is more dehumanizing than anything
