Sugars, salts, and oils aren’t particularly moisturizing so that could be why your skin is so dry. I would stop exfoliating for now, use a moisturizing body wash and then follow that up with a body oil cream (these are still water based- mine has cocoa butter in it) or something like a Hydrolatum WHILE YOUR SKIN IS STILL WET.
