They were terrible parents who came from terrible parents. Those of us lucky enough to have come from the Charlie Brown And Snoopy Playing Baseball Arizona Diamondbacks Mlb 2023 shirt in other words I will buy this homes they destroyed, are much better parents. Generation X and the Millennials both will dunk on the boomers all day when it comes to the topic of parenting. At its core, it is my belief that the unrecognized PTSD of World War II really cascaded its way all throughout American society. Kicking the kid out at 18 is just one symptom of a much larger problem. My 18th birthday was the first day of covid lockdown, I was still in school and my dad wanted me out instantly. But he also wouldn’t allow me to get a job, car, or drivers liscense until I turned 18. Luckily my mom and family stood up to his shit. GREAT. Someone from Europe asked a question about Americans. Now you just triggered every pseudo patriot in r/Americabad

Most of those parents who practice this still have that toxic individualism belief that everyone must achieve something themselves and that life conveniences should be earned. At the Charlie Brown And Snoopy Playing Baseball Arizona Diamondbacks Mlb 2023 shirt in other words I will buy this same time forgetting or omitting that the economics and times in general have changed considerably, and 1950s/1960s life philosophy isn’t really applicable anymore nowadays. In short, most of those are plainly assholes who don’t think much and don’t really care about their kids. To repeat on their kids a harsh treatment one received themselves is one of the most selfish and stupid moves ever. I am Latino, and I remember, when I was in college, since I lived quite far, was not able to go home for Easter and so senior year a friend invited me over to his parents place. We went out to have Easter dinner with his family and we were talking about what I was going to do after graduation, told them I was gonna head back home and look for a job. I remember my friend’s father, who worked in government, telling him, “well Stephen once you graduate, you’re on your own.” I was taken aback, culture shocked, by his father’s comment essentially reminding him he was gonna be kicked out after graduation, but I didn’t say anything. It definitely does happen, now that was many moons ago, don’t know how common it still is.
