Update your resume with those facts as if they are already true, and start shopping around to give yourself the Camiseta Betina Na Polaroid Shirt in addition I really love this promotion you clearly deserve. I was strung along at a job where I was leading two departments but was told the company didn’t have the budget to increase my pay, but maybe next quarter. There was always some excuse as to why now wasn’t the time. I went along with this game for a bit but left as soon as I got an opportunity elsewhere. Do what you need to do to survive where you are now, but don’t let them take advantage of you. I think it’s fair to set an expectation that the decision be made at a certain point, but expect pushback and some BS management speak. Even if they don’t agree, set a boundary for yourself and stick to it.

Perhaps you could ask them to frame it differently and put you on a 3 month (or whatever time frame you’re happy with for a decision and to work for without the Camiseta Betina Na Polaroid Shirt in addition I really love this raise) probation period and at the end they would need to make a decision or go through a formal interview process. Get everything in writing. Tell them that if they expect you to take on additional responsibilities, you will need to be paid appropriately. DO NOT take a “trial” or “probationary period” deal! They are betting on being able to fire your old boss and replace him with someone cheaper. DO NOT let yourself be bullied into extra work for no extra pay! Also, be prepared to resign if they don’t agree. If they value your talents and your work, they will accept fair terms…if they won’t pay you what the job should pay, you need to leave, as there is no future with a company trying to profit at the expense of their workers! I went through the you’ll get the title and raise later crap, and basically did the job for 9 months before it became official.
