This is literally how i got cold sores. After that experience my rule is just if they can’t kiss them they can’t hold them. I mean even when they don’t kiss them they have to touch their face or close talk to them. People so quickly forget how much pressure your under as a parent with a newborn to try to keep them healthy, especially with Covid, especially with fever hospitalization protocol these day. It can end up costing you thousands in hospital regardless of anything else. My son was born 11 weeks premature. He has chronic lung disease and was on oxygen for a year. My mother contracted Covid and gave it to him last fall. He is 2, he still has chronic lung disease, and she didn’t respect my boundaries. Our son, and us by proxy, are the ones who suffered. I don’t feel bad AT ALL for reinforcing my boundaries to keep my child safe, and you shouldn’t either!
