Where are you seeing this behaviour? Depending on where you live, spanking is illegal (should be everywhere) and warrants a call to CPS. Because just a couple generations ago food was hard to come by, and they haven’t forgotten that. They’re trying to keep you alive, ingrate. Mainly because everytime I say okay instead of telling them to eat more, they come back 15 minutes later saying they are hungry and want food. Our rule is: you don’t HAVE to eat, but what we served is what’s available, we will plastic wrap it and you are free to eat it until bedtime. There’s been one or two hungry nights, where they’ve had to hold over with a cup of milk, but we’ve had basically zero food issues in 6 years with three kids. Some nights they’re just simply not hungry, some nights they eat more than my wife and I combined. My mom did that as a form of abuse. Our dinner was often served right before bedtime on regular dinner plates.You could only see the outer rim of the plate, the rest was covered in food. There was only two options, Eat it all and go to bed painfully full or don’t eat it all and get a beating. I would opt for the beating , the stinging of skin would eventually subside but going to bed full to the brink would leave me uncomfortably nauseated and keep me up all night. Later in life I learned how to vomit silently,it was a game changer for sure. I could eat my food and make room without getting in trouble! I can’t eat mushrooms at all because once when I was maybe 7 or 8, my mom made dinner with these big stuffed mushrooms. I took one sniff and decided I didn’t want it because the smell made me gag, but she ended up making me eat it after about an hour of me sitting at the table and getting super bored and fussy because it looked and smelled gross to me. I ended up eating some it and throwing up all of my dinner after leaving the table, so I went to bed sad and hungry 🙁

There’s a difference between forcing your kid to actually eat the Brandin Podziemski T-Shirt moreover I will buy this broccoli on the plate too instead of filling up on mashed potatoes, and forcing them to finish a plate too large. There are also times where lessons are being taught and it’s not the norm. My stepdaughter used to just PILE food onto her plate, then end up throwing half of it away. I talked with her about getting smaller amounts and going back for seconds instead of wasting food, and she accused me of somehow body shaming her for her choices? So finally one night, when she went to fill up her plate, I warned her that she’d be eating every last bite. She smirked and piled on even more than usual. 20 mins later she was NOT a happy camper, because she was less than halfway through that plate and completely full. She started taking less and wasting less food after that.
