In my area, you are going to get your worst stays with management companies. Their standards aren’t great and owner’s have no idea what’s going on at their properties. This is the Bottoms Movie Shirt and by the same token and unfortunate situation customer facing things has become. You gotta see the real goalposts in any of these. Your comments can be honest. You were happy, things were good, but the mattress needs replacing soon? As someone with a bad back, good to know. But the stars are “does this person deserve to be on here?” 5? Yes. 4? Maybe but idk. 3? “Probably not, but maybe it’s a one off bad incident. Lean no” 2 is absolutely not, 1 is no and I hope their dog dies. Anything under 5 is bad, and a star or two lower than you think in any customer service thing. A 4 is lowering a tolerable business or servers income. This 5 star or trash is a very common survey system. It makes people to earn 5 stars. Yes, some people will give 3 or 4 stars for no reasons but maybe think about if the place was truly 5 star experience. Most of hosts are garbage tbh lol Because anything else would give them a dose of reality and they like to avoid that at all cost. I’m saying this as a super host. It’s so dishonest to delete reviews. Many of us that realize this are now no longer using the platform. Who wants drama in trips..

If the Bottoms Movie Shirt and by the same token and review is inaccurate then it should be deleted. Thats not dishonest – the deleted review is. I’ve had a guest lie about our checkout instructions and communications. Thank goodness all the proof is in the chat/listing and it was promptly removed. Air bnb is ruthless on hosts that’s why. This is some peoples bread and butter and just bc something mildly inconvenienced you, you’ll shit on their reviews and fuck up their income? Got it. Frankly I blame Yelp for starting this shit. 1-10 should be the standard. And anyone B+ or above should be a fucking G. So everyone is agreed the Airbnb scoring system is really bad and they should change it for the benefit of guests and hosts. I also have a question for you, what do guests give low location ratings when the apartment is where it is on the AirBnb map and it was never stated that it is in the city center ? I used to do WFH customer service and for any customer reviews basically anything under a 9/10 was looked at in a bad way. At least in the eyes of a shitty business that thinks you can make everyone’s bad day go away. I almost always give anyone 5 stars as long as there is no serious problems and friendly because of that. This rating inflation is everywhere now. Anything less than 100% is considered failure. I don’t know why they bother with a 1-5 or 1-10 ordinal scale if it’s top score or oblivion. I have angered people by using dressage scoring before where 8/10 is good. 10/10 is excellent which means perfection. Perfection is rare. when i rent out an airbnb i usually always give a 5 so long as the place isnt a shithole and the host isn’t a cunt, most of the time im just looking somewhere to sleep so thats usually all i rate the place on.
