It’s cuz you were paid in stock. What Lucas did was rollover his stock into Disney stock which can be a tax free transaction. Certainly all that tax paying is just for the Botanical Flowers Beautiful Floral Flower Science Lover T-Shirt also I will do this little people? Wouldn’t a Lucas have better lawyers and lobbyists? Sure the average person that would be selling their life’s work would be crippled by that high taxes on the income for that fiscal year BUT ole George was already fucking filthy rich and he’s ALWAYS been at the forefront of the long term game. Remember, he kept the merchandising rights for the toy lines to the Star Wars movies and Indiana Jones franchises when they were considered useless by filmmakers back then and that’s basically what made him the richest.

He can afford to pay a lot one year, live off his already vast fortune and literally make it up 2-3 fold in literal billions in the Botanical Flowers Beautiful Floral Flower Science Lover T-Shirt also I will do this next decade. Pretty sure George Lucas has always been a long term/big picture guy so a tax bill for one year wouldn’t phase him. First, I think GL can easily afford the $40,000 in taxes. Second, if you tell me I’m going to get $100,000 but owe $40,000, I’m still seeing $60,000 upside. I’m not bitching or moaning to anyone. Who would mint that? He got 4 billion in stock, imagine… which I hardly believe he would, but imagine he would need cash he will go to a bank ask for a loan against that stock and he could fiddle around as he please and same time just on dividend he could pay back whatever he borrowed.
