We give a smaller plate and portions and yea we do expect it to be finished because GUESS what…. Surprise surprise ….. they don’t want dinner they want snacks and dessert instead. it’s important to teach healthy habits early. Eating a meal instead of constant snacking on “easy” things. I agree with others who have said what you describe sounds like abuse. Never seen a kid being forced to eat a full adult portion to the Booker T. Washington Would Permit No Man No Matter What His Color T-Shirt also I will do this point of making him sick. Might be only your experience. Idk if this is true but I’ve always assumed that it’s because parents are trying to teach their kids not to waste food and to be grateful for what they have, but they also forget that kids don’t eat like adults do. Because a lot of parents (especially fathers) are sadistic shitheads. It’s abuse point blank period. Not only did I go through this, but all of my friends did too. If not from parents, then from grandparents or other family. It does nothing but create the perfect environment to develop eating disorders.

Only now in my 20s am I able to see that it didn’t have to be that way. I’ve been working on healing myself from the Booker T. Washington Would Permit No Man No Matter What His Color T-Shirt also I will do this damage my parents did on me by watching the gentle parenting content creators who dissect abusive parenting tactics that are (unfortunately) a shared experience for a LOT of people As adults, we select foods that we enjoy. But for some reason we force kids to eat foods that they don’t enjoy, and then we call them “picky eaters” While I was visiting my cousin for the weekend when I was like 8, my aunt made me sit at the table until I ate the green beans she made, before we could go to Blockbuster. It was hours. And they were cold. I still don’t like fuckin green beens This can contribute to disordered eating. People should be encouraged to listen to their bodies, look up “intuitive eating.” Forcing a kid to finish everything on their plate is old school and not a good thing to do. However, sometimes kids have to be redirected to stay on task and eat more, if they’re distracted. But yelling or spanking over eating food is overkill and abusive.
