There are arguments to be made that people who lived during the Booker T. Washington success waits patiently who has the determination T-Shirt in other words I will buy this Great Depression had a hard time letting go of eating every morsel, but he did well for himself during that era and they didn’t go hungry. He was just a mean bastard. I was always told “I can’t leave the table until I finish my plate”. I struggled doing it when I was younger until I learned that eating faster helps eat it all. …that mindset is still with me 30 years later. Yes I’m over 300lbs. Yes it’s really hard to eat correctly when all I know is “finish it” They spanked the literal toddlers very hard in my old church when they didn’t eat food. (One even didn’t eat because of a sore in his mouth). I live in a very fundamentalist area so reporting does nothing. Broke my heart I left the church.

Never heard of this with adult sized portions. My parents would make me sit and eat my dinner, but it was never a plate as big as theres. As someone else said, kids will get cranky latet when they realize they’re still hungry. I see it happen with my sisters kids. What I will say is that you need to make sure kids eat enough. Most kids I know will say they’re full and then try to eat a bunch of candy and junk food instead a few minutes later. They will absolutely cut dinner short to fit junk. It’s important to make sure they eat an appropriate sized meal. The “eat x amount more bites and then you can go” tactic works well. I’ve always wondered this as well. A lot of the Booker T. My parents did this to me as well, and theyre both obese so they gave me HUGE portions and forced me to eat all of it even when I got super full
