Applicant amount on LinkedIn is skewed. Don’t count in it . 99% won’t make it last ATS as a ton of people are insanely under qualified, visa seekers, and moon shots. It’s also inflated. Yes I applied for mostly remote, and landed two remote jobs. I did skim job postings in the easy apply apporamas. Reading 35-40 and apply literally takes 30 minutes laying in bed at night. . Mostly just put titles and apply to everything I had the skillset for. My thought was I’ll get something and keep looking. The jobs that really interested me I tailored a resume for, maybe a cover letter. ahhh this is exactly what i was looking for lol one question though – when you say “apporama” is that just sorting by easy apply on linkedin and clicking through? should i have a generic resume to do this and not worry about a CL?

I rarley do a cover letter. If it’s mandatory I copy paste job role into chat gpt and say make me a cover letter. And yes, sort by easy apply when laying in bed. And fire off a ton. With my skillset, I had 3 different resumes for easy apply, and would custom tailor ones for roles I loved. I had sales focus, ops, and general. The first two highlighting key metrics and success in the same companies, but different roles. All in all, networking is what pays off the most. This sounds like a bad business idea because if I saw 500 applications for a job I wouldn’t even bother applying, so the companies lose out on applicants when the numbers are inflated. Applicant tracking system. The software that recruiting uses to filter through the applications. That’s why an effective ATS friendly resume is important so it’ll ingest the proper information. For that reason 2 column resumes are a big no-no. Also those questions that are asked on a resume such as will you require sponsorship or do you have X number of years of experience, allow the software to quickly filter out those that don’t pass those requirements. Aww shit. I don’t have a 2-column CV, but I have a side-column which might throw things off. It might be a good idea to split it into 2 pages instead of 1. Thanks for the information!
