I’m a host, and when I’m a guest, I leave either a 5-star review (when there are zero or only minor problems) or no review (if there are bigger problems) and email the Bo Jack Horseman Christmas Design 2023 Shirt and by the same token and host about things needing attention. I have asked for and gotten a night refunded when heat went out (in winter). I got the refund and left a 5-star review because this wasn’t the host’s fault and they made it right. I hoped other hosts had a code like this, but maybe not? I had a host/guest give me four stars because the pilot light on the cabin’s stove was on all night in the kitchen and she didn’t like the light. And I keep reading about how easy it is to for host to get reviews deleted, and I do not think this is the case. No doubt this has happened, but this as a commonality just gets repeated, I think, as if it’s a absolute fact. “If the guest is a host, expect 4 stars” is interesting here. Why would someone who knows how this system works do that to someone else?

Because Airbnb says if listing is a 4.5 star one it’s dog crap and no one on this earth should ever have to stay in it. Yeah, the Bo Jack Horseman Christmas Design 2023 Shirt and by the same token and Airbnb expectation is that 4.5 is bad and 4.0 you are likely to get delisted. So as a host if I get the following reviews 3* great house 3* nice house but there is no baby gate at the top of the stairs. (Not a common feature) 3* nice house but my phone had poor signal and I’m worried I would not be able to dial 911. (The home has gigabit internet and decent Verizon, so even with other carriers you could call 911 fine but the guest didn’t know there was good Verizon, or how 911 works. All the holes in this region are the same) Do nothing and get no more bookings and get removed from Airbnb, even though your home is better than the competition. As to why Airbnb is like that… It likely stems from the silicon valley heritage… The PayPal Mafia and eBay… The same applies to eBay, and this seemed to have carried across. For the California Airbnb homes we had we would average 4.9 without removing any reviews because the visitors were from silicon valley and trained by eBay. Now in other states our homes are nicer and we struggle to average 4.6 without deletions (and our PMs have policies against doing deletion) because of reviews like the ones I mentioned above.
