Sat next to a lady at the window that demanded I leave the entire row (where my designated seat was) for HER. I refused and she threw a hissy fit and called the stewardess to throw me off the plane insisting I was on the wrong plane, I was harassing her sexually, and a smattering ton of other arguments. She had to eventually relent an let me sit down at my seat but kept grumbling at me and insulting me under her breath. She did a couple of other passive aggressive stuff but the final straw was when the dinner service came along. She got up to take her tray from the stewardess but ‘stumbled’ and dumped all that hot food on me. She just smirked and coyly said “my bad~” in a sarcastic sing song voice. I was mad, but not as mad as the woman seated behind me, now she was irate because she just had apple juice spilled all over her. She motioned me to move out of my seat and just smacked the living lights out of this adult-child while a couple of air stewardess tried to stop the one sided fight while attending to me.

Flip side, I was 10, maybe 11, mother and I almost missed our flight from NY to Paris, flying from there to Jeddah.. Our seats had been given to a family so they could sit together and they would not give them up. I ended up next to an elderly French gentleman who spent about half the flight reaching me.about wines. How to pour, proper tasting, what to look for when swirling a bit in the glass. How to pair, etc. Crash course in being a sommelier. Before I recovered from alcoholism I would get absolutely obliterated before my flight then curl up in a ball and sometimes lay my head on the lap of the person sitting next to me. I never got told no lol but I’m sure it was a terrible time for them.
