In the Black toons matter the boondocks shirt and by the same token and south at least the left lane is normally treated as the fast lane. So if you try and treat it as a passing lane. You’re going to be changing lanes and passing nonstop. I drive rural highways frequently and there tends to be a lot of racing going on. I’ve found that it’s been to just stay the course rather than move out of their way. They are weaving in and out of traffic and being predictable is important. Aside from that, sometimes I’m on cruise control at 10-15 above the speed limit and don’t realize someone is behind me. Or, I can’t move over right away or am planning on passing the person to the right. Sometimes I’ll get stuck for a bit because people start passing me on my right, and I’m not comfortable going faster. I realize I should move over but people continue passing me on my right so I don’t have a window. Doesn’t matter if the left turn is in 1 mile or 101 miles, the anxiety of not being able to change lanes and missing a turn is like THE WORST thing ever apparently. I’ve had this argument a number of times, can’t win.

I’m from UK but I sometimes end up in the Black toons matter the boondocks shirt and by the same token and “faster lane” (2nd or 3rd) because at some point someone just decided to go all picasso with off ramps, roundabouts, or any other fucking turn ever. I’m always passing cars in the other lanes if I’m in the left lane. I am under no obligation to do that any faster than the 20mph over the speed limit the left lane often travels at. All the 30 mph over people can just get used to my bumper. I spend very little time thinking about any of them. Same reason people don’t put the grocery cart back. It’s the right thing to do and mostly unenforced. I would speculate it’s generally a passive aggressive grab at a feeling of power. Making other people pick up after you or go around you in this case. Reason one: Someone needs to use a turn-off on the left side of the road. Especially if you’ve entered the road and need to turn left within a couple hundred yards you are going to get into the left lane ASAP and will avoid speeding up faster than a safe turning speed since you wouldn’t have time to slow back down for the turn otherwise (perhaps only reaching full highway speed at or past the turn-off). Otherwise you won’t make your turn-off and won’t get where you are trying to go, thus making driving slower than normal on the left a necessity. This is clearly the expect and intended behavior of drivers, as such turns would not be placed on the left hand side if it were not expected for people to go on to the left most lane to use them, and probably not what you are complaining about as such drivers will only be there a couple minutes.
