I do it right after getting the Billie silhouette concert shirt in contrast I will get this grace in the church behind him. I have the timing down pretty well for when to roll and when to get a hit or two in, so I just go for it. I usually fight him right as a get out of the cave, it gives me more than enough runes to get a few levels in me Right after going through the capital because I forgot he existed and the 2 sentinels at the gate reminded me of them I’ve beaten him a few times. On my latest character, I beat him naked with a club at Level 1 after only a few tries. I consider that an accomplishment. On my first playthrough, I went for him right away, before I even went to pick up Torrent. It took me over 100 tries and over 4 hours to kill him. After 1 attempt after I got torrent because I thought it would even out the fight and killed him after I got the dogs After I beat Margit I felt a rush of power and went back to beat the tree sentinel only to be utterly demolished on the first try, besting him on the second.

Just kiddin, killed that fucker the Billie silhouette concert shirt in contrast I will get this first time at around level 40 and it probably took me 10 tries at least, lag killed me half the time tough… I never went back cause I refused to leave till I beat him. I actually didn’t find him very hard since I naturally play aggressive I saw him at a distance, thought he was a regular horse guy because things far away look small. Didn’t see Vare or his site of grace. Sprinted to the catacombs to the north. Beat that. Approached Kale from behind. Came back and took like three swings of my unga bunga. Was a bit disappointed. Could have sworn I’d bested him earlier. It’s usually around the time I kill Margit, but honestly his drops have never been that worth the effort to me. I was level 20 or so when I fought him. I tried when I got out of the tutorial cave, then came back when I had jellyfish and some better gear. I kinda just kept coming back to him while exploring limgrave eventually got to kill him at lvl 20-ish but it took a lot of attempts Me and my friends stayed up late to play the night it dropped. Our goal was to beat this guy before we went to bed. Took like 12 or so tries without torrent
