You should definitely look into self defence as I imagine it would give you more peace of mind, and provide you with better knowledge of how to protect yourself, but in my opinion, strength will play a deciding factor in a situation like that. It dosent help that UK self defence laws are an absolute joke, Items like everyday carry knives are legal to possess, but if used against someone (even in situations where you are not the Big John Studd American professional wrestler and actor T-Shirt and I love this instigator of an attack) you’ll be in the wrong legally and you’ll be facing some serious trouble. It would be helpful to carry items such as an umbrella, as it can be used to fight back against someone, and it wouldn’t be assumed that you’d be carrying it for that purpose. That being said, if you find yourself in a hostile situation, you kick that man as hard as you can in the balls and run.

A well trained full contact martial artist would be able to hurt a man of any size. That takes years of dedication and it’s why “women only, good vibes” self defence courses are useless. You could be a third Dan black belt in bjj but a fat 300lb motherfucker charging you and slamming you into a wall ain’t a negotiable sparring session – you’re at their mercy if you’re a normal sized like 150lb woman Especially when most martial arts places are Mcdojos emphasising tournament sparring and not a progression towards mma or anything like that, especially if it’s classes aimed at women not even mentioning you’re far less likely to walk into a Balkan/ soviet boxing gym and stick around Exactly, also very concerning the Big John Studd American professional wrestler and actor T-Shirt and I love this amount of people recommending BJJ. It’s arguably the absolute worst martial art for use in a street fight kind of situation unless your attacker decided to approach you scooting on his arse like a dog with worms
