This is upvoted so much I have to wonder if anyone else can back it up, even if only with their own personal anecdotes. Was it a mining area? In the Best is It Still Your Turn Vintage Geek Board Game T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this UK we have really high levels of radon in older mining areas that aren’t used any more, but it can cause some bad health problems. The Feds really made a mess with this one during fissile material production for the nearly 60,000 nuclear weapons they built. Similar in Germany in the Elbmarsch area. World highest rate of leukemia in children between 1990-2003. Right next to a nuclear power plant, a nuclear research center and a weapons factory. Emissions from the nuclear facilities Krümmel nuclear power plant and Geesthacht research reactors located in the cluster area. On September 12, 1986, alarmingly high levels of radioactivity were suddenly measured simultaneously at several measuring points in the Krümmel nuclear power plant. The operators of the nuclear power plant ruled out the possibility of an accident inside the power plant. The cause of the elevated values must therefore have been outside the nuclear power plant. Several eyewitnesses reported seeing a fire (yellow-bluish column of fire without smoke) on the grounds of the neighboring GKSS research center. After the alleged accident, eyewitnesses claim to have seen workers in contamination protective clothing on the affected site. There were reports in the local press.[8]

According to the Best is It Still Your Turn Vintage Geek Board Game T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this local fire department, the fire department’s incident logs from September 1986, which could contain more detailed information about a fire incident, were destroyed by a fire in their archives in September 1991 Pac beads are approximately spherical nuclear fuel particles. Pac beads were used, for example, in the spherical fuel elements of the THTR-300 nuclear power plant in Hamm-Uentrop. The diameters of such beads are on the order of a few hundredths of a millimeter to one millimeter. Various groups involved in the cause research as well as individuals, for example the Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), have found beads in the soil as well as on thatched roofs in the Elbmarsch area. The findings occurred in varying concentrations around the Krümmel nuclear power plant. The suspected fire of 1986 is being considered as the source of this contamination. Microspheres were found around THTR-300 in Hamm and played a role in the discussion about a strikingly increased incidence of thyroid cancer. According to a report by the state government signed by Environment Minister Johannes Remmel in 2013, however, the microspheres were made of iron oxide, such as those produced during welding work.
