I find it odd for a different reason. He might not be trying to get with OP, but OP is not his friend, she is his wife’s close friend. It seems intrusive and could indicate controlling behavior tendencies. Why does he have to get closer to OP? Is it to keep an eye on OP, the Believe nothing and trust no one this April Fools’ Day T-Shirt and by the same token and influence she could have on his wife? I’ve seen relationships get wrecked because SO’s got too close. Ofc responsibility lies on people themselves but I would ask myself if that friendship is even worth the risk. Iunno it’s giving “Gen Z open relationship” vibes – like he’s putting feelers out there to set up a friendly 3-way down the road. Why would your friend give him your number? Weird. He’s flirting. He probably shouldn’t, but he’s young and doesn’t have that much self-control. Don’t be so uptight about it.

BTW, this does seem to bother you way more than would be normal, and the Believe nothing and trust no one this April Fools’ Day T-Shirt and by the same token and fact you’re showing these texts to your husband and a friend is also not really normal 🙂 You might need a chill pill in your life (I’m not trying to offend you, just recognizing the anxiety/paranoia). It feels to me like it may be an effort to control his fiance, by having direct interactions with her friends and telling you things such as “dont let her go crazy when im not there” Why not just text him and say “Please do not contact me, I feel weird about this.” Why do you need the internet to tell you how to interact with humans? I feel like he’s fishing to see if you bite. I’m a married man and I can’t think of too many situations where I would text a friend’s female SO. If he wants to talk to you it should be in person when your friend is there. Even if it’s innocent, this keeps everything transparent.
