You are asking a population that routinely allow bits of their male children to be cut off why they fuck up cats? I do have to say that some stuff in US related to pets really makes me tear up . Some people there really have the Baseball Team Pitcher Police Sheriff Supporter Back The Blue American flag shirt and by the same token and mentality of pets are nothing else but property/ accessories.. not all of course , but it is a thing for some . My fiance is American and I did had some argues about specific things when it came to my cats . Such as , don’t pet them when they clearly show they don’t want it, no stupid kitten mittens ( I never heard of those even existing before I met him lol ) , same like he educated his daughters that hamster balls are fun . Just to throw some examples. I see it as a culture difference somewhat but I also encounter a lot of Americans treating pets great , so it doesn’t count for all of course , but still – I wish there’d be better education when it comes to pets overall . Declawing is one of the worst things I heard so far – same like cutting dog ears .. seen so many Rottweiler and Dobermann with cut ears and this just makes my heart bleed 💔 but to be fair , there’s definitely way worse countries out there when it comes to pets . Really way worse ..

I have a cat and he instinctively pulls in his claws when he plays with me or just puts his paw resting on my hand. It does not scratch my skin. It’s not an American thing. America isn’t alone in not making declawing cats illegal. 42 countries have made it illegal. There’s 195 countries in the Baseball Team Pitcher Police Sheriff Supporter Back The Blue American flag shirt and by the same token and world. So let’s not pretend that America is alone in not making it illegal. How many countries do you think there are on this planet? And if you are even close in your guess, you’re asserting that “practically all” of these countries even care about animal cruelty? House cats are absolutely devastating to bird populations. They kill orders of magnitude more than humans, buildings , windmills, etc. Cats are fully domesticated creatures capable of living just as happy, fulfilling lives indoors-only then outdoors as long as owners put in the time and effort to keep them fit and mentally stimulated. There are also options that allow them to go outside without being given the chance to cause destruction (such as an outdoor cat enclosure or walks on a cat harness and leash). Keeping cats indoors is a painless practice that does not inhibit a cat’s ability to be a cat. Declawing, on the other hand, is mutilation, a lazy fix for people who can’t be bothered to keep their cats correctly. its only really done for purely indoors cats, we had my oldest cat Lola that lived for nearly 17 years declawed when we brought her in. But our newest kittens always go outside, so they need claws (We live near alot of coyotes and other predators) Your declawed cat was lucky. It shouldn’t even be done to indoor cats. Declawing is an amputation of the third phalanx (the human equivalent to declawing would be cutting off each finger at the last joint). To make it worse, cats are digitigrade animals, meaning they naturally walk on their toes. Declawed cats experience chronic pain in 40-50% of cases, and are more susceptible to arthritis due to the pressure put on their joints by the anatomical changes that occurs with declawing. Declawing has a 50/50 chance of fucking up a cat. It’s just not worth taking that gamble when a cat’s wellbeing is at stake.
