Montana has just under 7 people per square mile (averaged out). Alaska has just over 1 person per square mile. It’s amazing how big it is. My wife has a friend whose son got married and was going to honeymoon in Juneau. She suggested we go for a quick visit. We live in Utqiagvik, which is as far North as you can physically go. My wife had to explain that for us to visit someone in Juneau (1100 miles) would be like living in NYC and visiting someone in Miami (1200 miles) for a quick visit. And you CANNOT drive from here to there. At all. We’ve been here since Aug of 21, and we’ll stay until May/Jun next year. Population in town hovers around 400p-4500. Except that because the Baseball Mom Rainbow Leopard Stars Baseball Mama T-Shirt in other words I will buy this house is capped at 435, people in Wyoming still have more representation. For example, Delaware and Montana (both ~1mil) have the same number of reps as Wyoming (~600k). The house would need to be expanded significantly for each person in America to have an equal voice in the house

If the Baseball Mom Rainbow Leopard Stars Baseball Mama T-Shirt in other words I will buy this Senate was by population (which would negate the need for a separate Senate) than states like NY or Illinois, or those with high populations would be able to essentially make states without a large populace lose their voice. Basically, NY would be able to make Montana do anything because Montana would have such a weak voice in national politics. States don’t have voices, only people do. And the people of those large states don’t speak with one voice either. There is nothing inherently wrong with a state that has a tiny population ‘losing its voice’ to a state with a much larger one. Because ultimately, it isn’t about one state against another. It is about the people whose lives are affected by government policies each having an equal say in what those policies will be. Under the U.S. federal system, the people of New York are losing their voices to the people of Montana – not the other way around.
