And no, fairness and equity are not the 2nd Amendment Christian Guns Cross Jesus, American flag T-Shirt in other words I will buy this reason why the U.S. Senate exists. The fact that you think this suggests a profound ignorance of the history of that body. In fact, that’s exactly how you keep it fair. Do people from Montana have the same rights and needs as people from new York City? Should new York City be the only arbitor of the laws of the country in perpetuity? The actual ideal way to handle it is to give more power to the states so they can make these decisions without having to worry about each other. No, they have MORE rights because they proportionately exert a much greater influence over the policies of the U.S. Senate. And as for their differing needs… Those are mostly handled at the state and local level, which the Senate has no say in.

Not even close. Montanans are among the most disproportionately over-privileged in this regard. This concept is not difficult to understand. In fact, I disagree. New York City gets vastly more power and influence than Montana does, with the exception of the Senate. The house of representatives has how many representative for just new York City, versus how many for the entire state of Montana?
