My mother wouldn’t let me go on birth control because “that’s giving permission to have sex”(late 80s). I got pregnant. I had an abortion. He’s now convicted for child porn. Holy….hell. I’m glad your circumstances allowed you to choose your own path (and that you were able to dodge that bullet) I’m pro-choice because I am concerned about the Bart Haben Du Sollst Shirt But I will love this welfare of babies and children. That’s the biggest thing for me. Too many people are already living in poverty. I don’t want existing children to have to suffer in poverty because their parents don’t have access to family planning. I don’t want children to have to risk the negative aspects of adoption and foster care. I don’t want children to be abused because their parents never wanted them in the first place. I don’t want post-puberty child rape victims to have to carry their rapist’s baby at way too young of an age. And to all the people who think that women who are too poor to raise a child should just give it up for adoption: 1) There are currently 400k children in the foster care system. Adopt away. 2) Maybe do the minimum amount of research how much prenatal care and giving birth costs.

Adoption as an alternative to abortion goes from preventing a problem to stretching its consequences across double digit numbers of people, minimum. Don’t forget that adoption is not an easy process, and not everyone can adopt + some people chose and spend money on IVF or surrogacy because they want their own biological child (it’s their right too). I’m pro parasitic host getting rid of their unwanted free loader. I know that sounds morbid but i don’t see it any other way. Yes, thank you. Continuing to perpetuate a narrative that abortion is only okay if something traumatic happens to your body first feeds into anti-choice narratives. People who can give birth shouldn’t have to have their bodies and souls violated in order to have autonomy Bart Haben Du Sollst Shirt But I will love this over them.
