Airbnb hosts can cancel at any time for any reason. Always book a fully refundable hotel for this reason as a backup plan. This exact same thing happened to me back in 2017. Literally just got refunded for our stay plus a $60 credit, but we got canceled on two weeks before our trip so all of the Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers Vintage T-Shirt Besides,I will do this hotels and airbnbs had skyrocketed in price because there was a music festival happening that weekend. It made me swear off Airbnb for a long time. They should 100% be on the hook for covering the difference in price. Airbnb’s are illegal in some parts of Montreal and earlier this year in March there was a bad fire at an illegal Airbnb in old Montreal and people died. Might have something to do with it …If you’re on a budget, I recommend the hostel M Montreal. You can get a suite with a kitchenette for a reasonable price. Sometimes there aren’t any listings, other times they’ll offer a voucher plus some additional amount (least they did when I assisted with support). Airbnb can’t force hosts to lower their rates but sometimes hosts can be reached out to offer a discount sometimes.

Do they make more money if you have to rebook at a higher rate? If so, there’s your answer–not only do they not want to help you, they make more if you’re inconvenienced. In my experience, companies like this have no interest in customer service. Can you call ans speak to someone? Probably not. If ypu can, they’re reading from a script. It’s the Baby Billy’s Bible Bonkers Vintage T-Shirt Besides,I will do this modern equivalent of adverts in a newspaper. It’s a bit like locking the stable door after the horse has bolted, but use a hotel or anything that doesn’t use the business model of Airbnb, Uber etc. I don’t understand why people use airbnb. It’s creepy af. Just get a hotel room like a normal adult. No need to sleep in someone else’s regular home. People get them because they’re travelling as a family and want space to live in and not be stuck in cramped hotel room, as an example. I mean if I’m only rich I could do that LOL but hotel prices during Grand Prix week is around $500/night, you’re extremely lucky if you ever come across to a hotel room worth $300/night Sorry that happened to you. Just so you know… AirBnb financially screws over hosts continually. Way more than guests. No claims are paid out for damages, cancelled, altered bookings even if you have firm or no cancellation. Your calendar can be blocked for months and guests back out without having to pay anything. Do not think trust AirBnb. Everything depends on people being responsible on either end. Ive had two where I thought it could have been about 30-60 dollars more, everything else was spot on for what i had to spend to fix.
