My parents both grew up very poor, and wasting food was considered a sin. One of my earliest memories was the Awesome diontae Johnson American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers Bold T-Shirt besides I will buy this first time I ate a hard-boiled egg. I had a few bites, told mom I hated it. She insisted I finish it, but she wouldn’t make it for me again. Turns out it was a rotten egg, and I spent the rest of the day being horribly sick. I’ve never forced my kid to eat anything she didn’t want to. I’ve never seen a little kid forced to eat an adult sized portion. What I have seen is kids being served food and they barely eat any of it only to turn around an hour later and complain of being hungry. “Wasting food” never made any sense to me. You gave me way too much food, so I’m not going to eat it all. But if I had eaten it all, it would be gone anyways, just like it is if it went into the trash. My mom still harasses me to eat. I’m 23, I weigh 125 pounds at 5’3-5’4ish, and not at ALL underweight. She treats me like I’m anorexic and pouts/guilt trips me when I choose to eat less. I’m like WOMAN can you cut that shit out?

14 hr. agoI was never forced to eat but my Awesome diontae Johnson American football wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers Bold T-Shirt besides I will buy this parents made it clear that if i did not eat my dinner I couldn’t whine and cry that I was hungry later. There will be no snacks coming my way. I disagree with punishing and belittling etc. But kids have a poor concept of cause and effect. Your kid might want to eat dinner but an hour later become a little terror without even realizing that it’s cause they’re hungry. Kids also tend to eat a lot of snacks because of their tiny stomachs and metabolism. My kids will not eat dinner hoping that they prefer their snacks. I won’t make them eat but I’ll tell them that there’s no snack if they don’t eat at least a certain amount. Even then there are often tears for a snack later on.
